The Treasurer/Collector is responsible for all Town of Norfolk receipts as well as municipal and school payrolls.  This department is also responsible for all tax collections: The Motor Vehicle Excise Tax and Property Taxes (real estate and personal property). The department also issues good standing approvals for permits. Payments can be made online either from a checking account or with a credit card; put in the dropbox outside Town Hall; mailed to the bank lockbox in the envelope provided; mailed to One Liberty Lane; or in person during regular business hours.

The Town of Norfolk operates on a "fiscal year" basis from July 1st to June 30th of the following year.  Massachusetts law requires that the Town Collector mail bills to owners of record as of January 1st, which is the assessment date.  For example, fiscal year 2005 is based on owners of record as of 1/1/04. Fiscal year 2005 runs from 7/1/04 to 6/30/05.  Any ownership changes after January 1st will be reflected on the following fiscal year bill.  New owners can obtain a duplicate bill at the Treasurer/Collector's office.  Any questions regarding property values, abatements, exemptions, or lot consolidations should be directed to the Assessing Department at 508-528-1120.
