Traffic Division Mission Statement
The primary mission of the Traffic Unit is to enhance public safety through education as well as fair and reasonable enforcement of motor vehicle laws. Several plans have been implemented to make motorists aware of local speed laws which include the use of portable RADAR speed signs, fixed RADAR speed signs and other speed detection and data collection devices.

The Norfolk Police Traffic Unit is staffed by one Sergeant and two Officers. This unit is responsible for traffic enforcement, special event traffic control, gathering traffic safety statistics as well as managing the federal and state traffic safety grants, over and above their normal duties.
