Home Energy Assistance Programs – Applications for fuel assistance are available from the Outreach Coordinator.  Please call the Senior Center to make an appointment.  Prior to that meeting you will receive a checklist of documents you will need to expedite the application process.  This is a federal program, administered locally through Self Help, Inc.  You may be eligible for assistance even if heat is included in your rent.  Free upgrades for insulation and weatherization, as well as heating system repairs are also available for income-eligible households.  You may also be referred to other energy assistance programs in the area.

SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) – SNAP is a federal program that helps low-income families expand their healthy food budget.  Benefits are delivered monthly through EBT cards which can be used to purchase groceries at retailers. Norfolk Food Pantry – Located at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 63 Rockwood Rd (Route 115). It is open on Saturdays from 9:30 AM -11:30 AM. Proof of Norfolk residency required, call: 508-528-5862.

CHAMP (Common Housing Application for Massachusetts Programs) - Using this site, you will be able to apply for state-aided public housing.  This is a universal, standard application through which you can apply to multiple communities.  Be advised that all towns have wait lists. https://publichousingapplication.ocd.state.ma.us/ 

HESSCO (Health and Social Services Consortium) Elder Services – HESSCO’s mission is to help older adults (age 60+) and individuals living with a disability remain safe and independent at home for as long as possible. They provide information and referrals, Meals on Wheels, care giver support and many other services. https://hessco.org/. Call:  781-784-4944.

Legal Services and Advocacy - Metrowest Legal Services (MWLS) – MWLS provides free civil legal aid to people who meet the income guidelines. Priority practice areas include: Family and Elder Law, Housing, Government Benefits (including Social Security) https://mwlegal.org/. Call: 800-696-1501.

MA Senior Legal Helpline provides free legal information, advice and referral services for citizens age 60 and older. Call:  800-342-5297.

Transportation – GATRA Go is a flexible, on-demand service that provides same day, affordable and accessible transportation in and around Norfolk. The GATRA Miles for Health program is specifically for medical appointments to other locations, including Boston. Call 800-698-7676 to talk to a representative or to schedule a ride.  Our Outreach Coordinator can assist with this and also discuss other options that may be available.
