Norfolk Council on Aging Announces Senior Center Reopening on July 17

NORFOLK — Council on Aging Director Karen Edwards is pleased to announce the reopening of the Norfolk Senior Center on July 17.

After a monthslong closure to the public due to a pipe burst in February that resulted in extensive damage, the facility is set to reopen to the public on Monday, July 17. All programming will return to its normal schedule beginning July 17.

Since the Senior Center's closure in February, programming has been held at several locations throughout the town to ensure continuity of services for senior residents. Beginning the week of July 10, programming that has been held at the Norfolk Town Hall will officially be suspended in anticipation of the Senior Center facility reopening.

Senior residents should note that while programming at the Town Hall will be canceled beginning July 10, programs hosted at other locations including the Norfolk Grange and Federated Church of Norfolk will continue to be held during that week up until July 17. Programming held at these locations includes Strength Training, Tai Chi, Yoga, Zumba and Whist at the Norfolk Grange, and Bingo and Friends-sponsored lunches at the Federated Church of Norfolk.

The Wednesday Friends lunches will continue to be held at the Norfolk Federated Church until further notice.

"On behalf of the Council on Aging, I would like to thank the Norfolk Grange, Federated Church and Norfolk Town Hall departments for hosting and supporting us during the last five months while our building was being repaired," Director Edwards said. "I would also like to thank our senior residents for their patience and understanding as we worked diligently to repair the Senior Center. After many months of programming being held in other locations, we greatly look forward to welcoming our community members back into our newly renovated Senior Center."
